A downloadable game

PETSCOP: Restored is a playable Petscop recreation based on a Petscop Youtube Series.

Actually works on a real PS1 console.

This is not a 100% recreation. The original series had some questionable gameplay decisions that worked well as a video series, but did not work in real gameplay. This version significantly improves gameplay elements of the original, and also adds new game mechanics and content. You don't even need to watch the original series to complete the game.

Features:

  • 3 Difficulty Modes. "Standard Mode", for more classic experience with more friendly puzzles, or "Hard Mode" and "Extreme-Enigma Mode" for those who want to see more new content and more challenging puzzles
  • Introduced a new Inventory system and many new items to find. Items can be examined after pick up (and sometimes you need to do this to progress through the game)
  • Improved and simplified TALK system
  • Demo Recording and Phantom System. The game constantly records your playthrough, and previously saved game profiles can "invade" the active game
  • Fully functioning NPCs with the ability to communicate with the player
  • "Child Library" procedural generation
  • A puzzle system with password and answer generation unique to each new playthrough
  • A system for communicating with TOOL using a virtual keyboard
  • 3D stereo sound in 3D environment
  • Gift Plane, Even Care, Inverted Gift Plane, The Windmill and Underground Area are mostly done and fully playable
  • A new exclusive level: Underground Desync
  • New puzzles
  • Colored fog
  • A new dynamic lighting system capable of rendering light sources of any color and size, fully integrated with the ECS architecture. A light source can be static, pulsing, flickering, broken, or even change its color, size, and other attributes in real time
  • PS1 Entity Component System implementation
  • 3D geometry based on polygon types "triangle" and "quad", with support for 4-bit, 8-bit, or 16-bit textures, as well as vertex coloring and textureless polygons
  • 3D props with skeletal rigging support
  • A save system that requires only 4 memory card blocks and supports up to 3 game profiles. Additionally, 1 extra block can be used to store configuration settings. 2'nd memory card slot is fully supported
  • Dualshock support
  • SDK that allows you to create own mods

Requirements:

PS1 with modchip or a softmod to play Homebrews, or a PS1 emulator.

I do not own PETSCOP Series and this project will be completely free. All financial support will go towards improving the PSX engine only (RSEngine). But if you want to support the original Petscop author, you can do it here.

Very nice demo!
I managed to get it working as a PS1 Eboot for my PSP.

The ending really caught me off guard lmao

Missed opportunity to call it "Petscop: Reborn"

What bits are you following to tee and what bits are you changing for gameplay wise?

Seems to be working fine on a Vita, but on my (PAL) PS2 the font seems like it's twice as wide as it should be for some reason. Is it a known bug? If not I can help you with debugging. I even have a capture card if you need a high-ish quality footage or something

UPD: There is a fixed version for PS2-POPS emulator. It's experimental build, so you can find it in our discord server.

The game is developed for PS1 or Duckstation, so PS2 compatibility is not a priority, so play at your own risk on different platforms or emulators. But still, if you'll find some glitches (any platform or emu), there is a special channel in our Discord group where you can demonstrate the problem.

i dont have discord can you pls post it here
